In order to build a profitable website for yourself you need to have a good plan in place as well as you carrying out lots of preparation first. A lot of people will come up with an idea for a website, they then buy a domain name and start to build the site without actually thinking through what is required. Like these people I use to have hundreds of websites and would never concentrate on one but would instead be moving from one to the next constantly. However now I concentrate on just 20 sites or less and because of this I have seen a dramatic increase in my income from them.
In order for you to make sure that the sites you end up creating for yourself are profitable there are a number of steps that you will need to follow. If you stick to the formula we provide in this article you will soon see just how the quickly the income from the sites you build increases. But before you actually start building your sites you need to get a ring binder and same paper. You then divide the binder up into sections for each site you are wishing to create. You may want to do this on your PC but you will find that you actually use what you have within the folder more when it is just beside your PC.
With Step One you need to carry out your Keyword Research. It is at this time you need to be thinking all about niches and into what sections they are likely to be placed. The niches that you choose can be on any subject you want, and you will soon that not only are there plenty of profitable niches but also there are plenty of profitable sub niches as well. For example if you choice to do a site on Cars this is a great niche to have but a site that is on SUV’s or Carburretors for cars would be even better. The most important thing to remember is that when doing your keyword research you need a good mixture of keywords. You need some that will have very little competition for you to worry about and others that will actually end up challenging you when it comes to promoting the site.
The second step and certainly one of the most important is planning. A lot of people will actually miss this step out completely but you must not. So take a piece of paper from your folder and start to write down what you want your site to contain. You need to work out just how your site will look and whether you want to have sub directories or just sections within it. Just by making a few notes and keeping these will help you at a later stage as you will be able to refer back to them and see which site models you have used before are the most effective and which ones are not.
The building stage comes next. In the planning stage you should have decided what tool you are going to use to build your site. There are many available some are free others cost hundreds of dollars. If you are just starting out I would suggest using Wordpress as it’s free and can be easily installed from many websites Cpanel.
One of the biggest mistakes made by many people is when it comes to promoting their site after they have built it. What they will often do is just promote their site enough so that it gets indexed into various different search engines before they become bored with it and move on to the next project. STOP! Any promotion you do for any of your sites should be an ongoing task. The best thing you can do is spend a hour each day for at least the next two weeks on promoting your site.
A site lives or dies on whether it receives traffic. Traffic can come from many sources. If you have done your website promotion properly then you’ll soon start receiving traffic from search engines. This organic search traffic is free and it should be what you are striving for.
The main objective for nearly every webmaster today is monetization especially if they are looking to earn an income from their sites. But the biggest problem that many of these people have is that they monetizing them far too early. Often I find it much better if I leave the sites I have built for about 3 months before I actually montize them. Certainly it is not to your advantage to add Adsense immediately to any sites you build as this could seriously affect your page ranking and so reduce the amount of traffic that is going to be directed towards it and help you to earn money.
If you start to incorporate the these 6 basic steps into your site building routine you soon start to see the benefit. Along with the increased profits you find the confidence to take on bigger and more profitable projects.
